As a part of the Office of Student Experience, reporting to the Dean of Residential Life and collaborating with other school leaders and staff, the Coordinator will provide after school and summer programming that reinforces the academic curriculum, encourages social emotional growth, postsecondary exposure and reflects the Girard College Core Values. This position is available immediately. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Survey and evaluate students' interests and needs to determine enrollment in after school and summer programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily attendance and program enrollment.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents and OSE staff regarding program offerings, attendance, and registration procedures.
  • Provide high quality, diverse enrichment activities during the after school and summer hours.
  • Coordinate program scheduling, venue use, and the sign-up process for activities
  • Create and maintain a detailed calendar of events for after school programs to be shared with the appropriate Girard College leaders, staff, students and families.
  • Build rapport with students, program staff, residential advisors, leaders and community partners.
  • Create a clear transition plan for students to and from programs.
  • Provide regular communication - emails, newsletter, bulletin board, board report, showcases, etc. to share student's experiences with the greater Girard College community.
  • Collaborate with program team to create and implement a cohesive learning experience including academics, social emotional growth and postsecondary exposure.
  • Create & maintain an inviting, safe, and orderly environment.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of programs and afterschool/summer program staff.
  • Schedule and conduct regular staff team meetings.
  • Ensure that after school and summer staff are developing high quality programming by collecting and reviewing lesson/program plans for content and effective planning.
  • Acquire and manage program equipment, materials/supplies and facilities.
  • Coordinate the meal distribution to students in the after school (as needed) and summer program and properly track and account for all meals.
  • Partner with residential leaders on student behavior concerns, as necessary
  • Oversee homework support, tutoring and other academic support programming as needed.
  • Establish, foster and maintain high quality partnerships with community organizations that are vision and mission aligned.
  • Perform regular program observations, collect data and provide feedback.
  • Provide monthly program reports and impact measures.
  • Support community relations by acting as an ambassador for the organization as necessary with community members, program participants, partners, collaborators, supporters and advocates, actively building relationships that will advance the mission and outcomes of the organization.
Job Shift: 12:00pm-8:00pm (Monday-Thursday); 9-5pm (Friday) Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education, child studies, behavioral studies, organizational leadership, or other related field preferred
  • 3 or more years working with youth, preferably in an Out of School Time (OST) program setting.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others and value collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Flexible and solution-oriented
  • Ability to create a warm, welcoming and positive culture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Canva a plus
  • Able to work afternoons and into the evenings during after school time and standard business hours during the summer months.
