The OSS Liaison is central to this mission - cultivating a safe, engaging, and transformative environment where students build the tools they need to return to their school communities stronger than before.The **Out of School Solutions Liaison** is a key member of the OSS Center team, responsible for overseeing daily operations, facilitating student engagement, and plans trauma-informed, restorative educational programming for students who have been suspended or expelled. This role supports both academic continuity and behavioral growth, with a focus on student reengagement, accountability, and life skills development. The Liaison fosters a structured, safe, and consistent learning environment that mirrors regular school routines while addressing the unique needs of each student.Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of the OSS Center, ensuring smooth adherence to a bell-based schedule and consistent routines across both middle and high school students.
- Coordinate Edgenuity and Google Classroom access for staff and students to ensure academic continuity.
- Monitor NDCDE coursework progress, focusing on morning academic completion for NDCDE-designated students.
- Communicate with school personnel to streamline schedules, manage student transitions, and maintain consistency across academic programming.
- Facilitate restorative conflict resolution activities, and end-of-day reflections.
- Support social-emotional learning through structured check-ins, goal setting.
- Lead or supervise life skills and skills-based SEL groups, helping students develop coping mechanisms and decision-making abilities.
- Coordinate approved off-site activities and service-learning opportunities with community partners such as Salvation Army, Bethel, Humane Society, and First Responders.
- Collaborate with school administrators to obtain transportation and approval for student participation in external events that support empathy, connection, and civic responsibility.
- Ensure a calm learning environment that mirrors office-like structure with individual desks.
- Regularly assess needs for supplies and enrichment tools (e.g. sports equipment, art and cooking supplies, additional cameras, etc.) and meet with school departments to obtain materials.
- Proactively manage safety considerations and communicate student risk levels to administration, particularly avoiding high-risk placements in environments without onsite law enforcement.
- Participate in all district professional development.
- Works closely with social workers, paraprofessionals, teachers, and administrators to support holistic student growth.
- Must be able to respond to behavioral incidents calmly and follow established protocols in the absence of SRO (School Resource Officer) support.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and crisis management skills.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict, facilitate problem solving dialogue, and foster student reflection and reengagement.
Technology SkillsProficiency with online learning platforms (Google Classroom, Edgenuity, NDCDE) preferred.Knowledge
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, particularly within marginalized or high-needs populations.
- Demonstrates cultural competence and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Knowledge in trauma-informed practice with an empathy-driven approach, grounded in sensitivity to students mental health and life experiences
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years working experience in an alternative education or behavioral intervention setting.
- Training or certification in trauma-informed care and restorative practices preferred.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds (e.g. boxes of classroom materials, instructional equipment).
- Visual acuity required for reading printed materials, monitoring student behavior, and using a computer.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and student needs.
- Ability to work in a dynamic classroom environment that may require quick transitions between tasks and physical settings (e.g. classroom, cafeteria, outdoors).

Work Environment
- Indoor school setting with occasional off-site programming pending approval.
- Supervises up to 12 students per day with support from administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, social workers, counselors, and other staff.
Terms Of Employment
- Classified at-will employment with at-will non-rep agreement.
- 190 day agreement, 7:45 am to 3:45 pm.
- Pay follows the teacher salary schedule defined in the WEA Negotiated Agreement.
