Position Overview:

The Operations Specialist plays a critical role in the daily execution of all facets of company operations. This position requires hands-on experience working in a distribution, logistics, and warehouse setting, as well as the ability to coordinate across departments and resolve issues. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, process-oriented, and comfortable supporting multiple operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operations across sales, customer service, warehouse, and logistics to ensure seamless workflows and timely execution.
  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison to resolve operational issues, streamline communication, and support company goals.
  • Monitor and analyze key operational metrics including inventory turnover, warehouse capacity utilization, vendor lead times, and shipping performance.
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards and reporting tools to track performance against targets.
  • Collaborate with international and domestic vendors to coordinate shipments, implement system processes, and troubleshoot delivery issues.
  • Assist with system updates and maintenance within ERP, operations, and inventory management platforms.
  • Participate in and lead projects related to new processes, acquisitions, and technology development.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, pricing trends, and freight costs to support vendor negotiations.
  • Document and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance, consistency, and best practices across operations.
  • Monitor order fulfillment performance and partner with warehouse teams to address issues promptly.
  • Assist with forecasting demand to optimize inventory levels while minimizing excess costs or stockouts.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members on systems, workflows, and safety standards.
  • Ensure all activities align with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, innovation, and a customer-first mindset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 2-5 years of operational experience in manufacturing or distribution

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience in using ERP, inventory, or supply chain software systems

  • Working knowledge of Excel and basic reporting tools

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • This role is based on-site at United Bags' headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.

  • Combination of office and warehouse environments.

  • Occasional travel is required to United Bags' 4 locations.
