POSITION: Operations Officer

This position follows all provisions of the SMART/UTU collective bargaining agreement.

REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor

LOCATION: ALB

AIRPORT: Albany International Airport

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, performs operations and security functions at the Airport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

+ Performs inspections of the Air Operations Area (AOA) to ensure compliance with FAR Parts 139and CSR Part 1542.

+ At the direction of the supervisor, issues runway condition reports and other NOTAMS as required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Airport.

+ Inspects security access equipment and doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; reports irregularities.

+ Ensures compliance with the provisions of the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Emergency Plan, Vehicle Access Plan, Snow Removal, Airport Rules and Regulations, Security Program and other plans required to comply with applicable local, State and Federal regulations.

+ Assists in the coordination and supervision of construction activity on the airport.

+ Assists in snow removal operations, aircraft salvage, and operational emergencies with airlines, tenants, operators and outside agencies.

+ Assists in the monitoring of the Glycol Containment System in accordance with the Best Management Practices guidelines.

+ Enforces CSR Part 1542 regarding access and identification of persons within the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).

+ Records data such as property damage or personal injury claims, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment for use of management staff.

+ Assists with enforcing noise abatement regulations by receiving and logging noise compliant.

+ Patrols buildings and land-side grounds of Airport, including the public and lease hold areas of the terminal facility, the public and rent-a-car lots and terminal roadway to ensure Airport safety security and cleanliness

+ Enforces Airport Rules and Regulations.

+ Acts as liaison between airport tenants and the various maintenance departments of the airport to ensure timely response to tenant concerns. Input work orders for terminal maintenance.

+ Performs customer service tasks including, but not limited to, providing directions and assistance, maintain a lost and found department, media room schedule and readiness, posting notices, and making deliveries.

+ Reports irregularities such as fire hazards, building code violations, and unlocked security doors.

+ Advises Supervisor, or in the absence of supervisor, sounds alarm and calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or the occurrence of infractions to Airport Rules and Regulations or other local, State or Federal Regulations.

+ Participates in Total Quality Management programs, Goal Setting and performance appraisals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

+ High school diploma, Associates Degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid New York State Drivers License as a condition of employment.

Must maintain current ASOS certification to perform ASOS functions.
