JOB SUMMARY:

As an Operations Leader for Action Resources, you are the pulse of the terminal, responsible for growth and development of a profitable transportation operation. You will coordinate and manage day-to-day operations to drive profitability and growth, working with other terminals and drivers to meet the needs of the company, with a primary focus on your assigned market.

The Operations Leader will be the driving force for the terminal in meeting and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Operations, Retention, Safety & Compliance, Customer Service, Financials, and annual goals and objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focus on key areas of Operations: Safety, Service, Revenue, Assets, and Costs
  • Implement and support all company continuous improvement and safety initiatives
  • Serve as the liaison for company drivers, owner-operators, and terminal associates
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers to meet their needs, ensuring superior customer service
  • Lead change related to processes, structure, and business modeling
  • Advocate for drivers, involved in retaining, recruiting, and hiring, treating drivers fairly and respectfully
  • Coordinate daily terminal activities supporting specific operating objectives
  • Handle escalation and time-critical issues effectively, performing transactions accurately and promptly
  • Collaborate with the sales team to manage existing and develop new business opportunities
  • Develop and mentor staff through performance evaluation and coaching
  • Promote and develop safe work behaviors through communication and safety program implementation
  • Identify process breakdowns and develop improvement plans with partners
  • Foster a positive culture within the terminal
  • Assist in onboarding drivers and associates to terminal processes
  • Act as the initial contact for personnel issues and troubleshooting
  • Monitor equipment for efficiency
  • Provide feedback and abide by EHSS policies, procedures, and safe practices for continuous improvement
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Regional Terminal Manager

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience in transportation
  • 3-5 years experience in transportation preferred
  • 0-2 years fleet management/leadership experience preferred
  • Experience leading teams and managing remote locations preferred
  • Experience with tank trailers and hazardous waste transportation preferred
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Software (e.g., TMW, McLeod)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
