Position Summary

The Landfill Operations Manager is responsible for managing landfill processes and collaborating with the Division Manager, Market Area Manager, and other managers to execute division strategy for producing marketable commodities. They also implement tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and manage budget information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze operations continuously to maximize resource utilization and operate at maximum capacity.
  • Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Reduce turnaround time for trucks entering and leaving the site.
  • Oversee landfill operations to ensure safety precautions are followed and accident prevention programs are in place.
  • Introduce new processes to promote growth and operational durability, driving change among management initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities with related departments to enhance customer satisfaction and proper equipment use.
  • Maintain professionalism in facility management to foster appropriate work behaviors and processes.
  • Train and coordinate training for Laborers, Equipment Operators, and Technicians.
  • Comply with all relevant Federal, State, and company Environmental and Risk Management policies.
  • Participate in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company and its services, and perform duties that support the company's vision, mission, and core values.
Education, Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or a High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years of relevant experience, and be legally eligible to work in the US. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team, possess 5 years of heavy equipment operation experience, and have at least 3 years of leadership experience. Experience or interest in environmental or sustainability fields is preferred.

Excellent relationship management, listening, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with familiarity with OSHA, DEP, and DEC regulations.
