We have an incredible opportunity for a dynamic, energetic, and eager Operations Manager in Jamaica, NY JFK unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Equipment Packing, FATS and Flight Coordinators. Plan, forecast, schedule and communicate transportation activities with dispatch as needed and ensure no missing items and no flight delays.
  • Supervise, motivate, and assist a large team of drivers, driver helpers, equipment and food packers as well as flight packers and coordinators.
  • Review and enhance transportation policies and ensure adherence to safety measures. Ensure all vehicles are in working condition and clean.
  • Report and reconcile any malfunctions immediately. (i.e., compliance, fueling, maintenance). Ensures OSHA compliance, Safe Program, & DOT standards/training are met.
  • Implement DO & CO departmental policies and procedures and set related training plans. Monitor costs and create related reports as requested by the management.
  • Manage and support all hygiene requirement (as per FSQA)
  • Manage all airline requirements and requests timely and in high quality. Keep a high level of communication and involve all internal stakeholders accordingly.
  • Participate in establishing policies and procedures
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Assess, manage and minimize risks

Qualifications:

  • Awareness of the operational sequences
  • Strong and effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial, can operate resourcefully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Highly organized and diligent, attention to detail and follow through
  • Ability to effectively deal with department heads and team members, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as independently
  • Planning, co-ordination, good communication and leadership skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook, purchasing software preferred
  • Contract and negotiation skills
  • Hands on approach to our guests needs
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within the given time in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Flexibility (different shifts - night, weekends, holidays)
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership transportation, equipment packing experience preferably within food manufacturing
  • Proficient computer skills (Particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
