Operations Assistant, Casual performs a combination of clerical duties that require knowledge and application of various work methods and procedures. Responsibilities include conducting limited research, preparing, issuing, and sending out receipts, bills, policies, invoices, statements, and checks. The role also involves answering telephones, conveying messages, and running errands. Other duties include counting, weighing, checking, analyzing, measuring, and/or classifying material, working in a team setting to accomplish departmental goals, preparing envelopes and packages for mailing, tabulating and posting data in record books, operating various office machines, issuing licenses, permits, certificates, writs, or other legal documents, stamping or numbering forms by hand or machine, photocopying documents, adjusting complaints, and other duties and projects as assigned. The position requires typing or entering information into the computer to prepare correspondence, opening and routing incoming mail, answering correspondence, and preparing outgoing mail. It also involves transferring information from reports, coding numerically, and posting to prepared code sheets, ledgers, or journals. The role demands maintaining a positive attitude in a highly intense environment and receiving and issuing receipts for payments on licenses, permits, certificates, bonds, and services. Proofreading records or forms, sorting and filing records, and indexing records and information are also part of the job. Education required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience preferred in the transportation industry, prior typing/data entry and clerical skills. Computer skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use various office machines. Shift days and hours vary by location and may include days, nights, and/or weekends. Being able to work the required hours at this location will be considered a minimum requirement. Competencies include decision making and critical thinking, initiative, managing multiple priorities, mentoring others, process management, service center operation and maintenance, and transportation safety. Work hours may vary depending on the service center location. This is an hourly position paid weekly.
