Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operational Accounting Manager with a strong background in technical accounting to join a growing finance team. This hybrid role will lead the month-end close, oversee day-to-day accounting operations, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and evolving accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on operational expertise combined with the analytical rigor to manage complex technical issues such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, and new pronouncements.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Accounting

• Oversee daily accounting functions including A/P, A/R, GL, and fixed assets
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement support
• Partner with FP&A and business units on variance analysis and internal reporting
• Manage and mentor staff accountants or senior accountants
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Technical Accounting

• Research, document, and implement U.S. GAAP accounting guidance on complex transactions (ASC 606, 842, 805, etc.)
• Prepare technical accounting memos and white papers to support internal controls and audit readiness
• Serve as the subject matter expert for revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity transactions, and other technical areas
• Collaborate with external auditors and ensure compliance with internal controls (SOX if applicable)
• Monitor FASB, SEC, and industry developments to advise leadership on the financial implications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's or CPA strongly preferred)
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and working with auditors
• Background in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and strong Excel skills
