Operating Room Assistant

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you'll support the physical and psychosocial needs of surgical patients, assist with intraoperative preparation, and help maintain a smooth, respectful environment for both patients and staff. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting, values teamwork, and is committed to supporting high-quality surgical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the physical and emotional needs of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
- Support the surgical team by preparing equipment, supplies, and patient areas
- Maintain effective communication with team members to ensure continuity of care
- Foster positive relationships with other departments and nursing units
- Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and empathy in all patient interactions
- Uphold Meritus Health's standards of safety, service, and collaboration
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant program preferred
Experience
- Related experience in patient care preferred
Licensure/Certification
- Current BLS (CPR) certification required, in compliance with Meritus Health policy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
