Merrimack College invites applications and nominations from individuals interested in launching an exciting interdisciplinary program within a dynamic and growing academic environment. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in leadership, teaching, and service. The full-time position will lead a new architectural program connected to construction management, engineering science, and the visual arts. The successful candidate will help shape a forward-thinking architecture education through collaboration with faculty and as part of the Merrimack College leadership team.
The Director will:
Assist with developing and implementing a new architecture programCoordinate and oversee the undergraduate architecture programCollaborate with leadership and faculty across departments such as Engineering, Visual and Performing Arts, and Construction ManagementDevelop and implement curriculum with facultySupervise and support faculty workSupport student success and enrollment growthRepresent the program to internal and external stakeholdersLead strategic planning for the programAdvance architectural pedagogy within the undergraduate B.S. in Architecture and Building Science/TechnologyManage the program budgetAssist in faculty recruitment and hiringSupport tasks related to admissions, graduation, and communicationOversee accreditation processes in collaboration with administrationAdditionally, the Director will:
Promote the program regionally and nationallyEngage with peer and regional programsLead strategic planning aligned with the College's missionDevelop long-term and assessment plans for the programOversee digital collection of student workAdvise on faculty loads, programming, and institutional requestsTeaching Responsibilities:
Teach 1/1 undergraduate courses in the first year; 2/2 thereafterStay current with industry trends to keep courses relevantMentor and advise studentsMaintain office hours for student consultationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in Architecture or a related field
- 3-5 years of leadership and academic administrative experience
- 3-5 years of architectural teaching experience
- Established research, creative achievement, teaching, and service record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in architecture or a related field
- 5-8 years of leadership and administrative experience
- Experience in collaboration, fundraising, and grants

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without assistance; international candidates must hold a valid work permit. The position requires a criminal background check.
