The Online Admissions Specialist is a professional that provides support, coordination, and guidance to prospective online students throughout the admissions process. This role will work to identify and resolve any barriers for the prospective fully-online student in addition to assessing applications, organizing documentation, entering data, and providing a first-class student experience. Core Responsibilities:
  • Engages with prospective online program students to provide accurate and timely information related to admissions requirements, general program information, financial aid/scholarship information, and orientation. Acts as the main point-of-contact for the applicant.
  • Serves as a prospective student liaison between admissions managers, program directors, and faculty with the goal of efficiency and continuity of service.
  • Utilizes multiple methods of communication (ex: phone, email, instant messaging, zoom) to maintain consistent and timely communication with prospective students.
  • Reviews and assists with admissions, enrollment, and other related documentation required for prospective students to successfully apply to selected programs.
  • Coordinates and participates with marketing and program directors in outreach efforts such as webinars and other online information sessions to prospective students .
  • Acts as a resource to prospective students to understand university policies and procedures.
  • May train or mentor other Admissions Coaches based on level and experience.
  • Participates in weekly enrollment meetings to review pipeline reports and progress.
  • Achieves performance goals for each term by maintaining targeted conversion metrics at each stage of the admissions process.
  • Maintains accurate database of inquiry records in customer relationship management system (Slate). Provides tracking of detailed prospect information, application statuses, and communication.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or combination of equivalent education, training, and experience
  • 2 or more years of customer service experience.
  • 1 year of online program recruitment experience, for example, recruiting for fully-online undergraduate or graduate programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of databases and relevant software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Slate Customer Management System
Other Position Details:
  • This position will be 100% remote, with availability for on-campus work as needed.
  • This is a restricted position with funding currently approved for one year. Continued employment is dependent upon continued funding.
