About the Job Your Role
The Oregon Department of Corrections is excited to announce an opportunity to join the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) as an Office Specialist. This essential position plays a critical role in supporting the Security Section by providing confidential, high-level administrative services to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with institutional standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and maintaining critical documents such as post orders, procedures, and guidelinestracking changes, proofreading, formatting, and ensuring timely completion and filing. This role also supports security hiring processes, including scheduling interviews and physical exams, greeting candidates, maintaining new hire documentation, and ensuring accurate submission to Human Resources. In addition to assisting with uniform ordering, inventory tracking through the WASP system, and facilitating first-day onboarding, the position serves as backup for both the Executive Support Specialist and the Security Clerk, contributing to staff scheduling and timekeeping for approximately 300 employees. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, demonstrate cultural competency, and embrace the Department's core values of integrity, respect, and teamwork. This position is vital in promoting an inclusive, discrimination-free environment and serves as a liaison between staff, adults in custody, families, and external partners. Minimum Qualifications
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An associate degree in any field; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions
Contact and exposure to hostile and/or potentially violent behavior of Adults in Custody. Responsible for taking immediate corrective action when dealing with inmates on a daily basis. Work week may exceed 40 hours. May be recalled in case of emergency.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
