The Department of Animal and Rangeland Science is seeking an Office Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth and efficient completion of all activities required for effective administrative support in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences (AnRS) at Oregon State University. The primary function of the department is teaching, research, and Extension. AnRS has 41 faculty, 2 professional faculty, 7 support staff, 24 graduate students, and 429 undergraduate students. In addition, AnRS has 8 farm units in the Corvallis area.
The Administrative Manager supports the department and the department head by engaging in strategic planning activities, project management, management of support resources and personnel, annual reports/reviews production, and other projects, as needed. The position is responsible for assisting in the establishment of departmental policies, direct supervision of classified staff, overseeing and directing the administrative operations, assisting in developing, implementing, and evaluating short and long term goals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, performing all human resource/personnel duties for the department, and acting as resource/liaison contact to departmental personnel, faculty, staff, students, other college and university units, the Agricultural Sciences and Marine Sciences Business Center (AMBC), and the public. The position researches, collects, analyzes, compiles and reports data related to various issues and projects. This position must maintain a high integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. The incumbent develops memoranda, minutes, fiscal and data reports. This position serves as the assistant to the department head, the departmental human resources officer, classified staff supervisor, telecommunications coordinator, and promotion and tenure coordinator. Also assists with preparation, coordination, and monitoring of salary worksheets, fiscal reports, and departmental budgets. This position has the authority to hire, conduct performance evaluations, monitor employee performance and attendance, and take corrective action related to performance for positions it supervises.
