GRADE 13 LOCATION OF POSITION Anne Arundel County Health Department Housing & Food Protection Services 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway Annapolis, MD 21401 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose for this position is to provide office managerial support to the Housing and Food Protection Services Programs for Environmental Health consisting of 44 employees including 2 Program Managers, Environmental Sanitarian Supervisors, Environmental Health Specialists, Summer students and administrative, secretarial and clerical staff. This position supports the Bureau Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Officer III and Housing and Food Protection Services Program Managers by directly managing the day to day operations of the units, supervising an Office Supervisor and indirectly supervising secretarial support staff for the Housing and Food Protection Services program. This involves the licensing, inspection, and enforcement of food service facilities, bathing beaches, multiple dwellings, camps, pet stores, property maintenance and nuisance complaints, and after-hour services in fulfilling the mission of the Department of Health which is to preserve, protect and promote the health of the citizens of Anne Arundel County. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One year of experience supervising lower-level clerical employees. Notes: 1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess:
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Experience in supporting a busy regulatory compliance agency/program
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google suites
