OFFICE ASSISTANTat Saline High SchoolJOB DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of the building principal, to provide a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and clerical support, communicating information to faculty, staff, students and parents as required, and to assist in ensuring compliance of the school building and Saline Area Schools activities with legal, administrative and Michigan Department of Education / Saline Area Schools policy requirements. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education/Certification
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • College level coursework in business, word processing, and office procedures preferred.
Required Experience
  • Exemplary customer service skills
Preferred Experience
  • Successful experience with office management in related areas is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Primary point of contact with visitors entering and exiting the building.
  • Utilize visitor management systems to screen and vet visitors to the building.
  • Generate and manage accountable student records and program data in the current student information system.
  • Prepare, submit, verify and certify student/program data submissions for required state reports.
  • Serve as initial triage for students who may be ill. Seek medical assistance from a school nurse as needed.
  • Coordinate the building calendar as needed with Community Education using Eleyo.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to visitors, callers, emails, and fax communications.
  • Must demonstrate computer experience and technology skills using Google Suite, New World Systems, Kalpa, Eleyo, Talent Ed, PowerSchool, Parent Square, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Serves as liaison with outside organizations related to building activities and work.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a team player.
  • Possess interpersonal and judgemental skills necessary to work with students, parents, staff and the public.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness. EQUIPMENT Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer and relevant software applications, copy machine, fax machine, telephone. TRAVEL Limited travel to and from meetings may be required. WORK SCHEDULE 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
