Tasks may include receptionist duties, filing, preparing and reviewing documents, processing mail, and data entry.Working ConditionsTypical indoor office environment. Sitting for long periods of time, working on computer. Lifting equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds alone and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Position requires visual acuity and depth perception, as well as ability to hear and identify sounds.Note: This is a part-time temporary OPS position. Not eligible for Health Benefits. Maximum six months assignment, with max of 29 hours worked per week. Job DescriptionEssential FunctionsThese are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.Area of Assignment: Environmental Protection Program Assistant (OPS):Indoor/Outdoor working environment. Periodic outdoor fieldwork required, possibly in adverse weather conditions. Provides administrative, technical, and outreach assistance for assigned program. Provides routine office support for a specific departmental project. Regularly required to drive County vehicles as part of the duties of the job. Assists staff in the implementation of specific departmental program responsible for water quality monitoring of local streams, rivers and bays. Collects environmental samples and measurements following quality control procedures. Measurements may use manual and automated techniques. Helps compile and summarize findings for dissemination. Reviews summary reports for accuracy and completeness. Performs data entry, checking and quality control. Receives and disburses program equipment and supplies. Runs errands and makes deliveries.Greets and directs visitors to office or work area. Answers and directs phone calls.Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents as assigned. Reviews documents for accuracy and completeness.Performs data entry.Sorts and files correspondence, reports, and other materials according to predetermined classifications and following all records retention requirements.Receives, sorts, and distributes mail within area of assignment. Prepares materials for distribution.Receives and disburses supplies.Runs errands and makes deliveries.Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required. Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver license required with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire. MorePrevious work experience in an office administrative or clerical environment desired.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and complete tasks within assigned time frames. Able to resolve routine situations and problems.Good keyboarding skills required in order to type documents and perform data entry.Basic knowledge and understanding of modern office procedures and equipment.Basic knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.Basic knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties, including Microsoft Office.Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with co-workers, management, and other stakeholders.
