Our team continually strives to develop and refine strategies that enhance productivity, use resources efficiently, deliver desired outcomes, and promote collaboration between our office, SUNY Plattsburgh faculty and staff, and our professional colleagues at P-12 schools, colleges, and businesses and organizations throughout New York State and beyond. We are part of the Enrollment and Student Success division supports a student's entire collegiate experience from the point of admission through to graduation. We partner with students, faculty and staff to provide a network of opportunities and services that lead to student success. Collectively, the division of Enrollment and Student Success positively influences the health, safety and well-being of the student body. The shift for this position is Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities: The Office Assistant 1 (OA1) serves as the first point of contact for the office providing outstanding customer service by answering the main phone line, and responding promptly to emails and text messages. This role also manages incoming and outgoing mail, oversees office supply inventory, and coordinates ordering and purchase requisitions. Assisting in the support of application processing, including data entry and quality assurance, as well as assisting with forms completion and event planning is also included. Required Qualifications:
  • Must be eligible for permanent appointment to this title pursuant to civil service law.
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of individuals.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Minimum Qualifications for applicants not currently civil service eligible for the title:
  • There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in an office setting
  • Ability to complete work accurately while experiencing interruptions
  • Familiarity with SUNY and/or higher education
  • Experience with a customer relationship management system such as Slate
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
