What you'll do

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will work Per Diem, On Call and administers occupational therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist to restore function, improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills to achieve optimal physical and/or mental functioning in daily life tasks following injury, disease or physical disability. The COTA may provide treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings.

* The Occupational Therapy Assistant independently carries out OT treatment plan of care as established by Occupational Therapist

* Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act

* Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.

* The Occupational Therapy Assistant demonstrates the ability to treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes.

* Completes all required documentation following treatment, ensuring documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved

* The Occupational Therapy Assistant maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services

* Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner.

* The Occupational Therapy Assistant coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication

* Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in occupational therapy

* The Occupational Therapy Assistant demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

* Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives

* Additional duties as assigned

What we need from you

Education:

* Associates degree from an accredited OTA program, required.

Experience:

* Experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant prior to employment is, preferred.

* New grads will be considered.

License/ Certification:

* NYS Occupational Therapy Assistant License or valid temporary permit, required.

Physical Requirements:

* Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

* Occasional: balancing, climbing, crouching, pulling, pushing, stooping, fit testing, repetitive motion.

* Frequent: typing/ clerical/ dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, reaching, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.

* Constant: hearing.

Hazards:

* Frequent: bodily fluids/ bloodborne exposure.

Working Conditions:

* Occasional: extreme temperatures.

Travel:

* Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to:

USD $3,750.00

Pay Range

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $26.25/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum:

USD $39.37/Hr.
