Job Title: Occupational Therapist Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation Services Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and provide occupational therapy services in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The goal is to maintain a high degree of quality care for residents. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Planning and Development:
- Develop and organize occupational therapy programs and activities in accordance with nursing care regulations.
- Create and maintain occupational therapy standards.
- Utilize outcome measurement tools to standardize therapy methods.
- Patient Care:
- Review physician orders and schedule therapy as prescribed.
- Select and administer rehabilitative and therapeutic exercises based on medical history.
- Assist in discharge planning, care plans, and quarterly resident assessments.
- Maintain detailed treatment records, resident files, and progress notes.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Assist with the development of quality assurance programs for occupational therapy services.
- Maintain compliance with therapy laws, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Administrative Functions:
- Interpret and explain occupational therapy policies to staff, residents, and families.
- Ensure accurate therapy service charges and timely documentation.
- Participate in facility committees as needed.
- Safety and Sanitation:
- Ensure therapy areas are safe, clean, and equipped with necessary materials.
- Follow infection control procedures and use safety equipment when required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or nursing care facility is preferred.
- Licensure:
- Must hold a current, unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including the elderly and disabled.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy procedures and best practices.
- Proficiency in documentation and use of therapy-related software.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, move, and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move intermittently during working hours.
