CJCP first opened in 2006 with 77 students, and is now serving a diverse population of over 1,300 students and nearly 300 faculty and staff. CJCP is a recipient of many awards and designations such as: USDOE Blue Ribbon Award, 2016 NJDOE Tier-I Charter School, 2013-2018 US News Best High Schools, 2015 - 2024 National charter School, 2020 College Board AP Honor Roll, 2023 - 2024 College Board AP Capstone School, 2020 - 2024 Great Schools College Success Award, 2020-2022 100% graduation rate, 2011- 2024 100% acceptance rate into four-year colleges and universities since 2011 The mission of CJCP is to provide academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. Hiring for School Year 2025-2026 Occupational Therapist Responsibilities Include:
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' needs and abilities.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives to support students' educational progress.
  • Recommend adaptive or assistive devices for students who require alternate means to accomplish educationally related tasks.
  • Consult regarding adaptive positioning and seating materials.
  • Observe pupils in classrooms and other school settings.
  • Provide strategies to facilitate students participation in an activity.
  • Reduce barriers that limit student participation within the school environment.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of in-service programs and parent seminars.
  • Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and other professional growth activities.
  • Observe pupils in classrooms and other school settings.
  • Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel and community groups.
  • Perform all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative code, state and federal laws and board policy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer or Director of Special Education.

  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;
  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law, administrative code and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven communication and instructional strategies;
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the field of occupational therapy.
  • Ability to effectively apply the principles of assessment, treatment and prevention/correction of motor disorders and needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Valid NJ School Occupational Therapist Certificate
  • NJ Criminal History;
  • Work authorization in the U.S.;
  • Tuberculosis Test;
  • Experience is a plus.
