Position Overview: The purpose of this position is patient menu management.
This includes patient contact, nutritional screening, data collection and communication of patient's needs.
Job Accountabilities:
- Assists the Clinical/Patient Services Manager in assuring that patient satisfaction levels meet survey norms or standards set by the Food Service Director.
- Assists patients with menu selection, collection of menus and patient surveys.
- Responsible for effective verbal and oral communications between the nursing units and Food and Nutrition Services.
- A background in clinical/patient services or food services is required. Areas of responsibility to include the following: Primary: Patient menu management Secondary or as needed: Trayline services
- The principal challenge is to collect and manage patient information pertaining to patient menus, diet changes, food requests and meet department timelines.
- Keep Clinical/Patient Services Manager and Clinical Dietitians informed of title daily operations of the diet office.
- Promotes customer service and satisfaction.
- Responsible for patient contact, menu management, data collection and communication of patient's needs.
- Performs nutrition screening of hospitalized patients and provides basic nutrition education.
- Responsible for communications between nursing units and the Nutrition and Food Services department regarding, patient menus, diet changes, food requests, and general patient services.
- Develops menu tallies for food production, NPOs and tube feedings.
- Must react accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficiency and timeliness of services to ensure accuracy of physician's ordered modified diets.
- Must keep clinical dietitians and Clinical/Patient Services Manager informed of daily operations of the diet office.
- Must be familiar with dietary restrictions on special therapeutic diets to ensure delivery of optimal patient care and satisfaction.
Education: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- Bachelor's: Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition, a comparable program, or must be degree eligible within eighteen months of hire date.
Preferred Experience: Typically acquired in:
- Minimum six months customer service experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of people at different levels of the medical center.
- Elementary knowledge of Clinical Nutrition.
- Elementary knowledge and competency in the special needs and behaviors of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Elementary knowledge of JCAHO and Title 22.
- Ability to function independently.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ability to participate in own performance evaluation by identifying goals, strengths, and improvement opportunities.
- Knowledge of customer service theory and practice is required.
- Ability to function effectively under high stress conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Pay Range is $34.57 to $42.11 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
