The Nursing and PI Coordinator assists the Director of Nursing Quality & Clinical Informatics in the monitoring of nursing care practices, the goal of which is to render excellent patient care. The incumbent is guided by a broad knowledge of current nursing theories and practices, research methodology, computer applications, familiarity with organization and department functions and knowledge of principles of leadership and management.

Job Details:

Responsible for nursing participation in hospital performance programs, and specifically in the Nursing Department Performance Improvement Program.

Initiates and assists in nursing research studies designed to assess nursing care.

Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and the Department of Health and other regulatory agencies standards as it relates to nursing.

Chairs ad hoc nursing committees as assigned.

Co-responsible for attendance at all Performance Improvement related meetings; falls, Pressure injuries etc.

Assume leadership role in clinical nursing committees to ensure on-going development and review of documentation practices, clinical policies and procedures, standards of care, patient education materials and patient care review activities.

Assists the Director of Nursing Quality & Clinical Informatics in creative planning and implementation of new ways to deliver nursing care, including customization of the EMR as needed.

Facilitates improvement initiatives, provides and interprets benchmarking data to facilitates responses and actions.

Comprehends, uses and shares data for the analysis of PI results.

Prepares performance improvement reports for the management/ CNO team.

Serves as a resource to the nursing staff for the development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement programs

Achieves successful outcomes in PI initiatives.

Familiarity with PI tools (risk analysis) and project management systems (PDSA, Lean and Six Sigma) applying them appropriately throughout project facilitation.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective and professional manner.

Utilizes conflict resolution and negotiating skills to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Maintains current knowledge of new hospital and departmental procedures.

Bachelors of Science in Nursing or related field, required. Masters Degree, preferred.

Registered Nurse with a current NYS license, required.

BLS required from American Heart Association.

Must have excellent organization skills and be detail oriented. Problem solving ability, creativity, and effective communication skills are a must. Data analytical skills, required. Must have the ability to motivate, plan, organize and direct activities of others. Knowledge of medical equipment found on nursing units, computer programs such as word, excel, ppt, etc.

5+ years of clinical nursing experience, required. Performance Improvement, Quality Management and /or leadership experience, preferred.

Position is moderate and will require sitting for long periods of time interspersed with walking to and from various locations. Excellent verbal and listening skills required for communicating clearly and effectively with others. Ability to bend, stretch, reach, handle/finger delicate items, required. Posted Salary Range:USD $57.62 - USD $68.88 /Hr. :
