In preparation for the opening of the Crisis Recovery Center, DuPage County Health Department Crisis Services is expanding the current crisis team to include a Medical Services Supervisor. The Medical Services Supervisor will oversee the nursing operations within the Crisis Residential program. Crisis Services is located on the DuPage County Campus in Wheaton and provides 24/7 crisis mental health services to County residents who may be experiencing a psychiatric crisis or are in need of additional support for symptoms of mental illness. Crisis Residential is a 12-bed voluntary unit, providing short-term crisis stabilization services for residents ages 18 and over, who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Click Crisis Services to learn more about our Crisis Programs.The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) is the critical next step in DuPage County Health Department's decades-long journey to build the infrastructure needed to support a best-in-class behavioral health system and ensures all DuPage County residents will have someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The CRC will help residents de-escalate, stabilize, and connect to community resources catered to their individual mental health and substance use treatment needs. The building design and operations will ensure individuals and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure throughout every step of their care. The CRC serves as an alternative to hospital emergency departments and simplifies access to crisis care for all individuals, families, and first responders. This position will work within our Crisis Services programs and oversee the nursing staff working within Crisis Residential.This is a full-time position that is Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm and may require being available by phone after regular business hours.   • Supervise 24/7 Medical Services areas and provide clinical supervision to psychiatric nurses, medical assistants, and other support staff at Crisis Services.
  • Manage activities, workflow, and nursing resources and implement practices according to established rules, regulations, and standard practices of the profession.
  • Identify and resolve employee relations issues
  • Interview, hire, and train staff
  • Collaborate with onsite pharmacy and build and maintain relationships with other supervisors.
  • Implement projects delegated by Assistant Director of Crisis Services.
  • Provide appropriate leadership and direction and promote positive morale, creativity, and teamwork among staff
  • Evaluate employee performance and set clear goals and expectations
  • Respond to clients and/or customers, either in person or over the phone, during business hours.
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, certification in specialty area preferred, three years of psychiatric nursing experience which included one year of managerial or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience, a current Registered Nurse license from the State of Illinois.
