Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP) - OB/GYN Location: On-Site (Annapolis, MD) Salary: $120k - $135k Benefits: Health, Dental, 401k, Etc.Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive OB/GYN care to patients including, routine gynecological care, prenatal and postnatal care and treatment of OB/GYN related conditions. This position works closely with other providers while independently evaluating and managing patient care. This position requires extensive knowledge of women's health, the ability to provide patient-centered care, and excellent interpersonal skills to establish trust with patients. Essential Functions: • Responsible for patient care management: o Preventative Care o Routing Care o Diagnosis and treatment o Patient Education • Responsible record management by accurately documenting all patient interactions. • Participate and collaborate with staff to provide continuous quality improvements. Primary Duties: • Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, andfamily history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examination. • Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks. • Conducts well-woman exams, including routine screenings, pap smears, contraceptive counseling and preventive care. • Responds to urgent patient care needs, providing stabilizing treatment/guidance. • Educates patients on lifestyle, nutrition, contraception, pregnancy and preventive health measures. • Document all patient interactions, diagnosis, treatments and follow up accurately and in compliance with HIPPA and company policies. Skills & Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities. • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care. • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care. • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. • Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques. • Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources. • Skill in oral and written communication including interviewing to gather medical histories; providing presentations, consultations, facilitation, and documentation, e.g., writing medical orders, patient education materials, and medical record updates. Skill in using computerized health information management systems. • Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking, and other organizational matters. • Skill in modifying methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide appropriate nursing care and in initiating appropriate emergency response and investigatory procedures. • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions. • Ability to analyze complex data to manage patient care effectively within a fast-paced environment. Work Environment • May require occasional travel or overtime. • Work is performed in a professional healthcare setting. • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and toxic substances in the work environment. Physical Demands • Ability to lift and move medical equipment and supplies up to (X) pounds • Ability to use standard medical examination equipment and instruments. • Extended periods of standing and walking. • Manual ability for handling instruments and equipment.
