Nurse Practitioner / Assistant Director of Nursing, Employee Health Services - SUNY Downstate Medical Center : Job Details

The Department of Employee Health Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing / Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will: Independently medically evaluate and triage/treat patients (employees, students, contractors, volunteers) coming to the Student and Employee Health Services office. Discuss cases with on-duty physician and/or Medical Director when appropriate. Prescribe medications, coordinating care, counseling, and provide appropriate patient education as required. Order, perform, and monitor test results; provide timely discussion of diagnostic tests with employees, students, contractors, volunteers, etc. Initiate and manage treatment, including sick visits, work related injuries, immunization as well as return-to-duty visits. Perform pre-employment and annual assessment physical examinations on all new and current hospital employees, in compliance with the New York State 405.3 health code.
