JTEC Consulting is seeking an excellent candidate for a Nuclear Physics position to support radiation effects modeling. This is an opportunity to work in a cutting-edge program environment.Qualified candidates should have the ability to envision and articulate new areas of research, exploration, and avenues of novel approaches. This is a dynamic environment and requires team members to be comfortable with leading efforts, providing guidance, and transitioning those efforts for future development, while still monitoring and engaging in ongoing progress. The ability to function as a technical leader (non-supervisory) is strongly desired as is the ability to articulate concepts and work with clarity and professionalism.Experience, education, and other requirements include (but are not limited to):

  • Current U.S. government security clearance or eligibility to obtain a security clearance
  • Availability to work on-site in Maryland
  • PhD in Physics or related field preferred; qualified candidates with a master's degree in a related discipline will be considered
  • Nuclear physics expertise to support radiation effects modeling including:
    • Experience in the principles of particle and radiation detection
    • Experience with particle transport code(s), e.g. GEANT4, FLUKA, MCNP
    • Experience performing analytic and statistical modeling on large data sets
    • Experience with cryogenic particle detectors
    • A background in high-precision measurements
    • A working knowledge of superconductivity and basic low-temperature physics
    • Demonstrated success in experimental design and research program management
  • Related experience and research in the following areas:
    • Quantum physics focused on experiments versus theory
    • Appreciation and understanding of quantum noise
    • Experience in one or more of these areas:
    • Quantum dots
    • Spin qubits (Loss-DiVincenzo qubits, singlet triplet qubits, silicon based)
    • Superconducting qubits (transmon, fluxonium)
    • Trapped ion qubits
    • Neutral atoms qubits
    • NV centers and color centers
    • Decoherence
    • Quantum error correction
    • Markovian and non-Markovian noise
    • Pulse shaping
  • At least one publication in a related subject
  • Expertise in quantum information theory, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment
  • Ability to write concisely
  • Ability to accurately convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise
  • Proficiency working across the Microsoft Office Suite
