Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Radiology team in Johnson City, NY. This position is responsible for the preparation, administration, and imaging of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in radiation safety and patient care, with experience operating gamma cameras and SPECT/SPECT-CT imaging systems.
Education Requirements:
Required:
- Associate's Degree in Applied Science – Nuclear Medicine (Required)
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine (Preferred)
Certifications & Licensure:
- NYS Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine
- NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association, HSI, or American Red Cross)
Common Equipment Used:
- General Electric (GE) Nuclear Medicine Cameras
- Biodex Dose Calibrator
- EPIC (Electronic Health Records System)
- NMIS (Nuclear Medicine Information System)
- Xeleris (Imaging Processing and Analysis Software)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT and SPECT/CT imaging.
- Order, receive, document, store, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with NY DOH regulations.
- Operate gamma cameras, thyroid uptake probes, and associated imaging equipment.
- Process and transfer image data to PACS, and document all procedures in EPIC.
- Maintain required documentation for licensing and regulatory compliance.
- Perform quality control procedures on imaging equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
- Provide patient education and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow hospital policies regarding safety, infection control, and incident reporting.
- Demonstrate intravenous access proficiency for isotope injection; remove IVs post-procedure.
- Properly handle and dispose of radioactive waste.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other clinical team members.
