SUMMARY

Operates the Nuclear Medicine equipment and ancillary support systems to perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, and standards and policies set forth by the organization. In accordance with NRC regulations assumes responsibility for all radioisotope utilization, storage, and safety. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

STATUS: Full-time

LOCATION: Canton Potsdam Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Nuclear Medicine

SCHEDULE: 7.5hr shifts, 7am-3pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Required: New York State Department of Health Licensure, Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), New York State License-Nuclear Medicine Technologist

  • Preferred: NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board

  • Experience: 2 years Radiologic Technologist, 2 years as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist.\

  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • New York State License-Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

  • BLS within 3 months of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Details and clarifies the procedures in administration of the radioactive drugs.

  • Monitors the administered radioactive drug in a patient s system by tracking it using nuclear medicine equipment to include scanners and computer systems and imaging the results for interpretation.

  • Maintains proper stocking, safekeeping, and discarding of radioactive drugs or pharmaceuticals in keeping with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient, family, and staff and verifies pregnancy status if appropriate per department and regulatory standards.

  • Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control

  • Participates in all QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving nuclear medicine equipment, image quality, documentation and radioisotope reporting and control.

  • Maintains, provides and reports regulatory information and required documentation to the Radiation Safety Officer and Committee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$33.96 - $50.40

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
