Job Description :

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive patient-centered care for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses to adult and/or pediatric patients inthe outpatient setting. This position requires strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills as well as the ability to build relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
  • If applicable: Successful completion of national certification as a Nurse Practitioner

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is preferred.
  • Required Licensure/Certification(s):
  • New Mexico State Medical License required.
  • Board Certification (or board eligible) required.
  • Current ACLS, BLS and PALS Certifications are required.

Essential Job Competencies and Standards of Performance:

  • Participates as an active member of the medical staff and participates quality improvement activities.
  • Examines and diagnoses patients, orders appropriate diagnostic tests, and prescribes medications.
  • Develops and manages treatment plans for patients, including preventative care and health maintenance. Educates patients and families about health issues, disease prevention, and medical treatments.
  • Refers patients to specialists and other healthcare professionals as needed. Participates in on-call physician rotation.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Ensures documentation is recorded in a complete, timely and orderly manner, utilizing the current electronic health record.
  • Adheres to RMCHCS productivity and quality standards and meets minimum requirements.
  • Maintains working knowledge of medical advancements, new research and upcoming technology.
  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications. Submits updated verifications to Human Resources (HR) upon receipt of updated documentation.
  • Actively upholds RMCHCS Mission, Vision and Core Values. Follows all policies and procedures.
