This opportunity includes direct patient care from admission to discharge and a cross-coverage model for general inpatient medicine patients and subspecialty services.Each APP will follow 6 patients on average, with one admission per day. The APP promotes a collaborative relationship and effort between the hospitalists, private physicians, nurses, and the remainder of the interdisciplinary health care team.Applicants for this position should be patient-centered, motivated, and energetic clinicians that want to be part of a large academic team with MD/DO colleagues and NP/PA peers. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and able to respond, triage, and systematically care for both non-urgent and acute issues that arise in our patients.This position is an every weekend position and candidates may decide between either a part-time (24h) or full time (36 or 40h) employee. The weekend shifts are each 12-hour shifts.
- Experienced APP's may anticipate a rotation of nights during their 1st year of employment.
- New graduate APP's may anticipate a rotation of nights after their first year and between their 2nd year of employment.
PLEASE NOTE: The weekend only position comes with an annual bonus that is paid out every 6 months if the minimum program requirements are met. NPs who are hired into this weekend position must sign a contract with the department.Requirements
- General medical inpatient or ICU experience is preferred for experienced APP's. however, those with other APP experience may be considered.
- All new graduates MUST include their clinical rotations in their resumes and should include prior work experience.
- If a new graduate, then you must be in good standing to complete your degree.
- NPs: A minimum of two years of inpatient RN experience is strongly preferred for new graduate NPs and ICU experience is a plus.
- Must possess the ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems.
- Display maturity and self-confidence to follow patients with a complex management plan.
- Obtain accurate patient history, perform comprehensive physical exams, diagnose and treat health problems.
- Current Massachusetts State Licensure, with all associated active certifications, as a Nurse Practitioner, which must be in good standing.
- MCSR and DEA licenses
- Active ACLS/BLS certification as established by the American Heart Association.
