NJ Regional Volunteers- Bergen - Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center : Job Details

The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.

Seeking long-term volunteers available for a weekly 3-hour shift at our Bergen Outpatient Center (225 Summit Avenue, Montvale, NJ 07645).

Before submitting an application to volunteer at MSK, we encourage you to watch our Pre-Orientation video for essential program information.

Be sure to review the assignment description and hours carefully. Shifts vary from 9am-7pm Monday Friday. Please indicate all shifts you are available for in your application.

• Must be able to engage with patients and caregivers.
• Embody strong communication skills.
• Must be flexible and willing to support various areas based on daily needs, as directed by Volunteer Supervisor.
• Provide general support to patients and staff on the Infusion Unit: round patient rooms and provide non-clinical needs (blankets, drinks, ice).
• Support waiting room as a Greeter: escort patients to appointments, wheelchair retrieval and transport at entrances, round to various areas to assist as needed.

• Must be 16 years old or older.
• Willing to commit to a weekly 3-hour shift for a minimum of 6 months. Volunteers are expected to be dependable in attending their scheduled shifts.
• If a former or current MSK patient, must be out of active treatment for at least one year.

• If selected, complete a virtual interview. The selection process is based on scheduling needs and applicant qualifications.
• Reference check: 2-3 references.
• Background check & drug screen (*18 years and older).
• Medical Clearance. COVID-19 primary series, annual flu vaccine, no exceptions. Medical clearance is at the expense of the applicant.

If a candidate fails to follow up or complete the above requirements after 30 days, the application may be rejected.
