Overview

This position is open until filled. Under direction, incumbents must have coursework in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.

The hourly rate for this position is $18.90 for Undergraduate III and is non-negotiable.

This project involves developing software to evaluate the impact of data processing on meteorological sensor measurements at NIWC Pacific. The goal is to develop a Kalman filter software suite for real-time meteorological data processing to improve data integrity, supporting High Energy Laser (HEL) applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and developing software for error characterization of meteorological sensor data.
  • Integrate error characterization algorithms into existing software frameworks.
  • Follow software development best practices, including version control, unit testing, and style guides.
  • Support model and simulation efforts to validate algorithm performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate level (Junior or above), majoring in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Software Engineering, with relevant coursework or experience.

Required coursework includes CS 210, CS 420, CS 460, CS 503, MATH 245, MATH 596 (or equivalents).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or web development.
  • Experience with GIT, Docker/containers, and deploying software.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and work independently and collaboratively.

Additional Information

  • Must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Only US Citizens are eligible.
  • Limited to 20 hours per week as a student employee.
  • Candidate must reside in California, near SDSU.
  • Employment contingent on background check clearance.
