ABR is recruiting a Wastewater Operator in Central Wisconsin. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8pm-4am + overtime.The starting wage is negotiable based on experience and the company offers a full benefits package. The Wastewater Operator plans daily activities with the supervisor and ensures that wastewater discharge limits are met consistently.Wastewater Operator Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and ensure all safety standards are met.
- Operate equipment safely and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Manage operational monitoring and reporting requirements under the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES).
- Demonstrate operational knowledge of mechanical and biological wastewater systems, including Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), Membrane Bioreactors (MBR), Equalization, Solids Dewatering, and Aerobic Digestion.
- Manage the Biosolids Program, including sludge application rates/volumes, equipment maintenance, and required DNR reporting.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to maintain plant maintenance records and prepare preventative maintenance (PM) schedules for routine activities such as oil changes, greasing, and calibration. Perform basic maintenance on wastewater equipment, including pumps, blowers, filters, and other machinery.
- Collect samples, prepare chemicals, and perform routine analyses of wastewater at various stages of treatment. Record and interpret results accurately.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with internal production and maintenance teams, as well as external vendors, contractors, regulators, and other governmental entities regarding wastewater projects and issues.
- Read and monitor system controls and adjust parameters to regulate flow throughout the wastewater process. Use collected data to determine optimal flow for maximum efficiency.
- Research and recommend major repairs, maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment purchases.
- Demonstrate strong skills in prioritizing, organizing, and coordinating assigned work.
- May be required to train other operators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs frequently
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach frequently
- Ability to work in all seasonal conditions
Wastewater Operator Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Associate degree in a related discipline from a two-year college or technical school
- Licensed Wastewater Operator with the State of Wisconsin
- Two years of relevant experience
Required:
- Must be able to obtain a Wastewater Operator License within one year of employment
