MUST CURRENTLY RESIDE IN SAN DIEGO - role is onsite

Role Overview:

A growing biopharmaceutical organization is seeking an experienced IT professional to oversee and support its network infrastructure and core systems. This individual will play a key role in maintaining operational stability and implementing new technologies across the company's IT landscape. This is a hands-on position best suited for someone comfortable navigating a hybrid environment involving Cisco/Meraki gear, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and maintain enterprise network devices including routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls
• Set up and troubleshoot network hardware and ensure smooth integration with existing systems
• Contribute to backup strategies and storage solutions
• Respond to user requests and incidents involving IT infrastructure
• Manage virtual environments (VMware) with moderate complexity
• Maintain accurate documentation related to network architecture and configurations
• Develop and deliver reports on system performance and security metrics
• Participate in risk assessments and security posture evaluations
• Provide support for identity/access management tools, including directory services and cloud-based office platforms
• Keep current with technologies relevant to infrastructure and networking

Core Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a systems/network engineering role
• Solid knowledge of IP networking, Windows Server environments, and virtualization technologies
• Proficiency with Cisco/Meraki equipment
• Familiar with VMware ESXi (preferably version 7 or later)
• Exposure to enterprise-grade storage systems such as Dell or HPE
• Hands-on experience configuring security appliances and designing network layouts
• Understanding of Windows Server OS (2016 or newer)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Background:

• Degree in a technical field or equivalent real-world experience
• Cisco certification is highly desirable
• Experience using VEEAM or similar data protection tools is a plus
