ELGA Credit Union Network Systems Administrator Department: Technology Solutions Reports To: CIO Classification: Exempt Supervises Direct: 0 Supervises Indirect: 0 Role: To provide technical guidance to the Technology Solutions Team and Credit Union in the areas of application support and network administration. To participate in activities related to administration of the Credit Union's core information resources. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 20% - Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and support all upgrades, patches and enhancements to the Credit Union's networked and desktop systems following applicable security guidelines and best practices. Responsible for ensuring patch management of the server and desktop environments is occurring without interruption and that all applicable patch's and updates are applied in a timely manner. 20% -Responsible for ensuring that active virus scanning and prevention are working without incident. Responsible for ensuring that any other active or passive intrusion and malware prevention methodologies are working at peak efficiency. 20% -Administer and maintain the various application programs in use by the Credit Union. This includes but is not limited to any ancillary core systems (i.e. Akcelerant, Integra, etcu2026) as well as any stand-alone systems (i.e. Byte, Medici, etcu2026). Apply appropriate vendor releases and patches as needed to ensure applications are working at peak efficiency. 10% - Work on individual and team projects as assigned or as needed. Alternate on-call help desktop support duties as needed. Perform other job related duties as assigned. 10% - Write and maintain system documentation. Monitor system performance indicators to anticipate and remediate any possible issues to ensure peak performance is maintained. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. 10% - Administer the server backup sub-system(s) to ensure fault tolerance and continued system integrity. This includes but is not limited to monitoring the system(s) to ensure they are performing at peak efficiency, are able to backup and recover 100% of available data (of covered servers), and capacity planning and fault remediation. 5% - Participate in DR/BCP planning as needed for the network and desktop environments. This includes any ancillary servers and applications supporting the core processing environment. Conduct any non-core DR tests, training, and maintenance and documentation. Document the outcome of participated tests using standard documentation methodologies for the DR process. 5% - Embrace and advocate the principles of The ELGA Way in daily job performance. Reflect ELGA's service and core values in every interaction with members and other Associates. Foster a positive image of ELGA and present a professional demeanor at all times. Performance Measurements: 1. Ensure that servers and workstations are kept patched and updated to the latest release level or exceptions documented. 2. Ensure that servers and workstations are being actively scanned by the appropriate software and systems to ensure the safety and security of private information. This includes any active or passive intrusion, virus and malware prevention. Notate exceptions to best practices. 3. Effectively administer and maintain the various application programs in use by the Credit Union. 4. Ensure that application software releases and patches are installed within acceptable agreed upon timeframes. 5. Backup subsystem is monitored and working at peak efficiency. 6. Backup restores are periodically tested to ensure data recovery. Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). Proficient in the use of MS suite of software including Visio. Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Other Skills: Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise. Strong customer service skills and a willingness to assist others. Must be able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization and with all levels of technical competency. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong time management skills. Strong attention to detail. Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills.
