Job SummaryThis position is responsible for providing overall support of the college network infrastructure. In addition, the Network Support Specialist is expected to provide information technology (IT) support to faculty, staff, and students in using SGSC IT resources. This position will also provide guidance and support to other Information Technology staff regarding network issues. As a member of the Information Technology department, the Network Support Specialist will be involved in various IT tasks and projects to maintain and enhance SGSC's technology.
ResponsibilitiesNetwork SetUp and Maintenance - Installs, configures, and maintains all aspects of network equipment for the college. Configures and validates proper configurations of network equipment to ensure security, resiliency, and performance. Analyzes college needs regarding the use of network equipment and provides planning and technical expertise to IT staff on college local, wireless, and wide area network services. Works with appropriate contractors and vendors to support college network services. Researches and recommends network equipment for the college. Network Security - Maintains security of the network by implementing proper security settings, updates and other required security protocols. Advocates information technology security 'best practices'; ensures network systems conform to SGSC / USG security standards. Travel - Travel to support multiple campuses / sites and to attend conferences for extensive training. Other Duties as Assigned - Complete all other duties as assigned. Equipment Set Up - Assists in IT hardware and software rollouts including computers, printers, phones and other IT resources.
Required QualificationsEducational Requirements Associate degree in a computer related field Other Required Qualifications Certifications and/or additional relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for the required education. Required Experience Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the broad objectives and functions of the position.
Proposed SalaryCommensurate with Experience.
