We are seeking a Network Specialist II to join our IT team of System Administrators and play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our network infrastructure.Position Summary:As a Network Specialist II, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration,maintenance, and support of complex server-based and cloud-based systems. You will ensure application and infrastructure security monitoring, analyze and resolve related issues, and evaluate systems to meet network requirements. This role is integral to supporting a K-12 educational environment, ensuring smooth technology operations that enhance student learning and administrative efficiency.Key Responsibilities:•Install, configure, maintain, and support physical and cloud-based servers, networkinfrastructure, and enterprise applications.•Perform system administration duties including user account management, securityconfigurations, and software updates.•Monitor and troubleshoot network and system performance, identifying and resolvingissues proactively.•Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard network systems, includingfirewalls, intrusion detection, and endpoint security solutions.•Assist in the development and enforcement of IT policies and procedures to ensurecompliance with district, state, and federal regulations.•Support virtualization, cloud computing, and backup/recovery strategies to ensurebusiness continuity.•Collaborate with IT staff and school administrators to assess system needs and developsolutions.•Provide technical guidance and support to end-users, including educators andadministrative personnel.•Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network topology.•Research and evaluate emerging technologies to improve network efficiency andsecurity.QualificationsRequired:•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field ORequivalent professional experience.•Minimum two (2) years of experience in network/system administration.•Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GoogleCloud), and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).•Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs,VPNs, and firewalls.•Experience with enterprise security practices, including SIEM solutions, endpointsecurity, and access control measures.•Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Preferred:•Experience working in a K-12 or educational environment.•Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco CCNA,CompTIA Network+/Security+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator).•Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology platforms.How to Apply:Interested candidates should submit their resume, cover letter, and references to Topeka Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates of allbackgrounds to apply.•Must have current Driver's License•Must have a vehicle•Must be able to lift to 51 pounds
