Position: Network Engineer Intermediate (WAF)

Location: Montgomery, AL/ Columbus, OH/ Oklahoma City, OK/ San Antonio, TX.

Position Type: Hybrid, Full-Time

Clearance: Secret or above

Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide network architectural design, modeling, engineering, implementation, sustainment, migration, technical refresh, and lifecycle services for the DISA data center and Cloud enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Support network services and products including routers, switches, firewalls, web application firewalls, DNS, email gateways, proxy services, VPN, LAN, WAN, cryptographic devices, associated device software and firmware, diagnostic tools, and automation systems.
  • Support Intrusion and Detection Systems (IDS) and other network defense architectures for cyber defense operations.
  • Provide design solutions, implementation guides, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Cost Estimates using DoD and Industry best practices.
  • Reference an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework for service transition to operations.
  • Provide implementation solution documents and WAF subject matter expertise for DISA-hosted Application Delivery Controllers including F5 BIG-IP modules.
  • Design, engineer, implement, migrate, and sustain applications aligned with the WAF.
  • Recommend operational processes for successful migration and maintenance of applications behind Web Application Firewall (WAF).
  • Document design solutions outlining licensing, physical architecture, logical configuration, security policy protection phases, and system configuration baselines.
  • Build, implement, and document network-enabled applications considering infrastructure requirements, security, and application performance needs.
  • Continuously monitor project management systems for project support requests, assignments, timelines, and reporting.
  • Communicate and brief ideas to non-technical audiences including senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with security controls and Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG).
  • Engineer and implement network architectural changes based on technology enhancements and security requirements.
  • Prepare design/technical documentation including whitepapers and briefings to support engineering efforts.
  • Adhere to DISA enterprise network standards and policies.
  • Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Active SECRET or higher security clearance.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in complex data center and Enterprise Network infrastructure.
  • DoD 8570.01-M/8140.01 IAT Level II Certification (Security+ or CySA+).
  • Relevant Computing Environment (CE) certification based on duties.
  • CCNP, CISCO, F5, Juniper (JNCIS, JNCIP) certification preferred.
