Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Operations Specialist II. This individual will play a key role in monitoring and maintaining a highly available service delivery network. The ideal candidate will bring experience working in a 24x7 NOC environment, possess a strong understanding of modern networking technologies, and have the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.

This is an opportunity to join a small, collaborative team and make an immediate impact by supporting both customer-facing and core infrastructure systems. The client is particularly focused on improving quality of support after recent issues with external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the company's network, addressing faults, performance issues, and outages in real-time.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to Ethernet, IP, SIP, MPLS, TDM, DWDM, and routing/switching technologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Field Technicians, Network Engineers, and 3rd-party providers.
  • Use ticketing and documentation tools to accurately record actions, resolutions, and communication.
  • Proactively notify customers of service issues and provide regular updates on resolution progress.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical issues and planned maintenance.
  • Support provisioning and disconnect of customer services and coordinate planned maintenance events

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a network operations or support role (4+ years preferred in 24x7 NOC or carrier environments).
  • Working knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS, VLANs, LAGs, and QoS.
  • Familiarity with UCaaS, Voice, SIP, DNS, ARIN, firewalling, intrusion prevention, and access control lists.
  • Experience working in telecom or ISP environments highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in networking or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications such as Nokia NRS I a plus.
  • This role is currently remote with occasional onsite needs; candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Portland/Vancouver Metro area or broader Pacific Northwest region.
  • Requires a home office setup with reliable internet connectivity.
  • Some after-hours availability may be required for major outages or maintenance events.
