JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Engineer and oversee all network operations. Maintain administration appliances and servers, contribute to data and systems management, and supervise and evaluate network staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's degree in technology and/or advanced networking certifications (i.e., CCNA/CCNP) and experience in management of an enterprise network.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of networking hardware and security appliances, currently Cisco and Fortinet.
- Extensive knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Server and services (i.e., Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, NPS).
- Knowledge of server virtualization (VMWare, ESXi).
- Extensive knowledge of client/server architecture including current Microsoft SQL Server.
- Extensive knowledge of current Windows client operating systems.
- Knowledge of Macintosh operating systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet, VPN, etc.
- Capable of developing algorithms for bandwidth shaping, network optimization, cybersecurity.
- Experience developing and maintaining backup and recovery systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, assign and manage work activities, meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engineer and oversee all network operations. Maintain administration appliances and servers, contribute to data and systems management.
- Design, configure, and maintain district network including hardware and algorithms.
- Provide network security and Internet content filtering.
- Maintain current backups for all network and data systems.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans.
- Support district legacy systems.
- Provide problem determination assistance to District staff involved in technology usage.
- Research existing and emerging technology for District application.
- Participate in preparation and evaluation of purchases.
- Organize and manage multiple projects using excellent communication skills in an education-centered environment.
- Attend events involving network technology as directed.
- Maintain 24/7 on-call status for network emergencies.
- Supervise and evaluate network staff.
- Supervise and evaluate Technology Services staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
