Position Type: Technology Date Posted: 7/8/2025 Location: Dept - Technology Closing Date: Until Position is Filled Job Title: Manager, Network Exemption Status: Exempt Reports to: Director of Technology Pay Grade: 03 Works with: District Personnel/Vendors Days: 226 Dept./School: Technology Department Primary Purpose: The Network Manager provides direction, subject matter expertise and technical support to SBCISD Network and telecommunications services. Develop, maintain and monitor all district local networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and voice network. Provide reports and up to date information on current tasks. Prerequisites:
- Bachelor's degree in computer information systems or 10 years equivalent work experience
in network related field.
- Manage Inventory using asset management
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience managing a Cisco network environment
- Experience in project management
- Experience with mobile device management software is preferred
- Experience with classroom technologies preferred
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of computer systems hardware and software
- Knowledge of DATA safety principles
Education:
- 4 years' experience in telecommunications.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Adhere to policy and procedures, coordinate district wide projects. Provide management for a team of Network Support staff that is responsible for health and uptime of all elements of district network. Checking logs and monitoring tools for real time network health reporting. Timely, effective communication of network issues to appropriate affected users. Postmortem updates once issues have been resolved. Maintaining effective documentation and updating as changes are identified. Design, install, configure, implement and maintain district wide area and local area networks. Install, configure and maintain district Cisco VoIP network. Maintain district routers, switches, firewall and content filter. Design and maintain district network maps. Maintain district video conference units and associated WAN hubs/servers/multimedia hubs. Establish and maintain district-wide networking standards. Setup and install network hardware and software/install network and voice cabling as feasible. Coordinate network enhancements/additions. Analyze and troubleshoot networks, hardware and software problems and recommend and implement solutions. Coordinate implementation of new communications services. Point of contact for network and telecommunication service providers. Instruct users in the proper usage of computer and telephone equipment. Coordinate and perform preventative maintenance services as feasible. Maintain up to date knowledge of voice, video and data technology. Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized inventory reports, records, and other documents required. Direct the activities of team members to ensure completion of projects. Design, prioritize, schedule and monitor assigned technical projects. Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans/schedules related to desktop or classroom technologies. Provide peers/ team members with guidance, assistance, and mentoring to help develop skills. Participate as a member of the Information Technology Department management team that is responsible for defining the governance process of the organization's equipment infrastructure and applications. Coach and mentor employees to facilitate ongoing career growth and development. Act as final escalation point for computer and network services pursued within the technology team. Oversee backups and restore district data as needed. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of SBCISD. Attend scheduled and special Board meetings as per department schedule. Perform any other duties assigned under the direction of Director of Technology.
