Network Engineer L3

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer L3 with deep expertise in Cisco Nexus (6000/7000/9000 series) and Virtual Switching System (VSS) technologies. This role is ideal for a network professional who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about designing, implementing, and optimizing high-performance, secure network infrastructures. In this role, you will:

Network Design and Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade LAN, WAN, and data center networks.
  • Lead integration and deployment of Cisco Nexus 6000/7000/9000 series switches and VSS technologies.
  • Ensure network designs align with business goals, performance benchmarks, and security standards.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topologies and configurations.

VSS and Nexus Expertise:

  • Apply deep knowledge of Cisco VSS, including fabric partitioning, redundancy, and failover.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Cisco Nexus platforms.
  • Implement and manage Nexus Fabric technologies, including Virtual Port Channels (VPC) and advanced features of the Nexus 9000 series.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including performance degradation, connectivity failures, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Use monitoring tools and protocols to proactively identify and address network anomalies.
  • Document incidents, root causes, and resolutions clearly and effectively.

Network Security:

  • Implement and maintain robust network security controls, including ACLs, firewalls, and IDS/IPS systems.
  • Stay informed on emerging security threats and best practices to ensure proactive defense.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (server, storage, application) to ensure seamless network integration.
  • Communicate technical concepts and network status clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with evolving network technologies and industry trends.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to improve network performance, reliability, and scalability.

Required Skills: What you need to be considered

  • Proven experience with Cisco Nexus 6000/7000/9000 series and Cisco VSS.
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, routing protocols, and data center architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with VPC, VXLAN, and other advanced Nexus features.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) are a strong asset.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001 to $107,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
