Description Odawa Casino Resort Job Description Job Title:Network Engineer Reports To:Senior IT Manager Department:MIS Status: $72,800/year Job Code:TELTEC Pay Grade:MIS3 Date Written:02/07/2006 Last Update:07/25/2025 Job Summary: Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the telecommunications system and department. Analyzes telecommunications and network communications functions of the organization and work to develop, improve, maintain, and implement network. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides engineering and technical support for LAN/WAN systems.
- Design, plan, configure, implement, control, monitor and maintain a multi-user, multi-site network.
- Inquire and respond to questions directed to and/or from outside vendors or service consultants with regards to research, quotations, or repairs.
- Evaluate factors such as number of departments serviced by network processing equipment, reporting formats required, volume of transactions, time requirements and cost constraints, and need for security and access restrictions to determine hardware configurations.
- Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for types of network data and peripheral equipment, or modifications to existing equipment and system that will provide capability for proposed project or workload, efficient operation and effective use of allotted space.
- Translate customers' needs into business solutions.
- Coordinate with other departments to understand and meet their requirements.
- Develop RFP's and manage the RFP process for network services.
- Support the Sr. IT Manager in the planning and budgeting for the department as well as set strategic directions for our network infrastructure.
- Support the Sr. IT Manager with domain level access in the active directory.
- Play a role in other areas of IT Infrastructure outside of Telecommunications.
- Establish strategic plans to utilize the latest technologies.
- Make recommendations to hire, terminate, promote, demote, and transfer, provide training opportunities, recommend merit increases, evaluate performance, and create and adjust performance standards.
- Provide oversight of the network Team, monitor workloads and appropriate levels of customer service.
- Ensure that the day-to-day operational duties of the network function are completed in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Perform diagnostic tests to isolate sub-optimal system performance and failing equipment components.
- Oversee correction of network and system alarm conditions.
- Manage and maintain telecommunications hardware, such as network servers, switches, gateways and cabling.
- Manage projects that involve both the implementation of new technologies as well as the upgrade/maintenance of existing systems.
- Maintain open communications with Team Members attached to the Cisco based Unified Communications systems to ensure their network communication needs are met.
- Monitor the functionality of equipment to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications. Responsible for maintaining a smooth and efficient telecommunication network with little or no downtime.
- Ensure regular system backups are done as required.
- Performs installation and operational verification of new systems and facilities.
- Crosstrain PC Technicians in all Network Engineering duties to ensure that there are contingencies in place for back up workloads.
- Maintain working hours as helpdesk support to the enterprise as requested.
- Maintain equipment inventory and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Make presentations to upper management on project status.
- Greet all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
- Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
- Maintain knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
- Attend all meetings as required.
- Complete all required training satisfactorily.

- Perform all other duties assigned within the scope of work.

- Must have at least two-five (2-5) years of casino Information Technology related experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Voice over IP systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Entra, AWS, Userlock.
- At least three (3) years of experience in Cisco products including Catalyst, FMC and ISE.
- Deep understanding of enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud networking.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by our carrier.
- Must have working knowledge of network and IP configurations, communications and network security.
- Must read, write and speak English fluently.
- Frequent travel from building to building and local in-town travel are required.
- Occasional out-of-town travel required.
- Must be flexible with shifts and days off.
- You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
- Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
