Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the DoD and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies, particularly integrated communications, networking, and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies, to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach, the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering, cybersecurity, operational integration, and data analytics, all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Designs and plans network communications systems while adhering to Zero Trust principles to enhance network security and access control.
• Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, ensuring alignment with RMF compliance requirements.
• Conducts cost/benefit analysis and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and provides detailed recommendations for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools that meet business needs, including scalability for present/future capacity requirements.
• Integrates Cloud-based network and IT solutions into designs to enhance flexibility, efficiency, and security.
• Conducts rigorous testing of network designs, incorporating Zero Trust methodologies to validate system integrity and secure configurations.
• Monitors network/platform hardware operations to ensure proper setup of configuration options and adherence to RMF security protocols.
• Plans and implements network enhancements and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration with Cloud environments and next-generation technologies.
• Advises network users on hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations, providing expertise on systems such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
• Maintains technical expertise across all areas of network and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfacing.
• Designs technology insertion and refresh strategies to improve system capabilities and network performance.
• Evaluates and reports on emerging communication technologies, including 5G and 6G systems, and integrates these advancements into network systems alongside IoT applications.
• Collaborates on the integration of advanced digital, RF, and antenna technologies.
• Performs required network hardening processes, utilizing Zero Trust principles and RMF guidelines to protect against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities within Cloud-connected and on-premises environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
• Must Possess an active TS/SCI clearance
• Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation

Preferred Requirements:

• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo
• Prior experience working with military or aerospace platforms
• Master's degree in a technical discipline is a plus

Physical Requirements:

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
