Description
SAIC is seeking a proven Network Administrator to join the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Information Technology (IT) Modernization program and support the full range of Enterprise IT services to ARL's research mission.
This position is contingent upon contract award expected summer/fall 2025. The work is to be performed at the customer site at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD.

This position is your opportunity to utilize your skills and background as a Windows Systems Administrator and deliver support to the warfighting mission and cutting edge R&D for the US Army.
The Networking Administrator (Intermediate-Level) position will require an understanding of enterprise network architecture, Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols, and network security standards. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance, and security of the network infrastructure in accordance with DoD and ARL IT policies at the Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, MD.
Monitor and manage network performance, availability, and security
Implement and enforce network security procedures and best practices to comply with DoD regulations
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot network-related software and hardware systems, including Layer 2/3 switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and encryption devices
Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
Work with IP-based networking environments, including IPv4/IPv6 and IPSec VPNs
Maintain knowledge of and apply standards related to 802.1x, 802.11, MAC bridging, traffic management, and data encryption
Evaluate, develop, and sustain telecommunications infrastructure and ensure conformance with organizational IT policies and objectives
Train users on basic network operations and escalate advanced issues to senior personnel when necessary
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a BA/BS Degree or an AA in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Five (5+) years of relevant experience working in an IT enterprise network engineering field
Proven leadership in managing complex network environments, including DoD networks
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), security standards (802.1X, 802.11, MAC bridging), and media access control systems
Demonstrated experience in network segmentation, traffic management, and secure network architecture design
In-depth knowledge of network tools, monitoring platforms, and documentation best practices
Ability to plan and implement large-scale network configurations and upgrades while minimizing downtime

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.)
Must have CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent
DESIRED:
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v4 certification
Experience with incident management within the ServiceNow Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform
Familiarity with NIST, STIG, RMF, and Federal Information Systems Controls
Working knowledge of hardware configuration management tools and logistics tracking systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Experience creating and modifying documentation for technical processes and procedures
Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment
A problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems
Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
