NC Programmer

The NC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs used in the machining and manufacturing of precision parts of a variety of materials. The programmer will interpret engineering drawings and 3D models, select appropriate tooling and machining strategies, and create reliable programs for use on CNC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop NC/CNC programs for 3 and 4 axis machines using Surfcam and/or Mastercam software.

- Create Material Process Sheets to be used as manufacturing procedures.

- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and 2D CAD models to create accurate and efficient machining instructions.

- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies.

- Perform simulations and verifications of programs to ensure accuracy and prevent machine collisions.

- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to optimize machining process.

- Revise programs to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

- Maintain program documentation and ensure revision control.

- Support shop floor operations during the setup and initial runs of programs.

- Troubleshoot and resolve any programming-related issues or discrepancies.

- Stay current with new CNC technologies and CAM software improvements.

Qualifications:

- Associate degree or certification in Manufacturing technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

- 3+ years of experience in CNC/NC programming, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing.

- Knowledge of CAM software (Surfcam, Mastercam, CATIA, or similar).

- Solid understanding of G-code, M-code, and post-processing.

- Knowledge of AS9100 requirements.

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, and cutting tool technology.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GDandT, and 3D CAD models.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).

- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices.

- Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing documentation practices.

- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. aerospace, medical).
