Working closely with high school counselors and career development coordinators, the Career Coach provides academic advising, career guidance, and support services that help students make informed decisions about their futures. The overall aim is to increase students' awareness of career pathways and educational resources, ensuring they are well-prepared for life after graduation. Position Duties The Career Coach is the responsible to provide one-on-one and group support to high school students, helping them define their career interests and explore relevant educational programs. The Career Coach delivers career assessments, guides students through college admissions and financial aid processes, and promotes Career and College Promise (CCP) opportunities. The position requires the planning and facilitation of career development sessions that equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make career-aligned educational decisions. Position Requirements A bachelor's degree in education, counseling, career development, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Candidates must have experience in academic advising, career counseling, or working in a high school or community college setting. The Career Coach must possess a strong understanding of career exploration tools, college admissions and financial aid processes, and regional workforce needs. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and community partners. Proficiency with technology and data management systems is required to document services and report outcomes. Attendance at NC Career Coach training and participation in professional development activities are mandatory. A valid North Carolina driver's license and insurability under the college's automobile insurance policy are also required. Possession of a master's degree and a National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) is preferred.
