Position PurposeUnder direct supervision of the Dean of Natural Resources and Public Safety, the NaturalResources Site Operations Manager will perform the following functions: provide recreationalsite management and operational oversight, land management practices, supervise employees,provide a hands-on real world educational experience; provide course instructional services;participate in departmental activities.II. Program-Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads collaborative operations at Lake Snowden, Robbins Crossing, nature center andfish hatchery, to create meaningful courses that benefit students and externalstakeholders. Actively leads live learning labs, manages entrepreneurial endeavors andcommunity involvement; create, maintain, and process materials associated with NaturalResource Programs and associated sites; teaches classes each semester of the year;and supervises employees, interns and students working in their areas.III. Position Duties and ResponsibilitiesOVERSIGHT OF WORKERSo In coordination with natural resource staff and faculty, plans, schedules,coordinates, and monitors the work of employees, student workers andvolunteers engaged in the care/maintenance of equipment and sites.o Supervises/evaluates the work of employees and student workers, effectivelyrecommends personnel actions related to selection, performance review,scheduling and discipline; administers personnel and relatedpolicies/procedures.o Ensures all staff and students are trained in existing work methods, policiesand procedures to ensure conformance with accepted standards. Overseesstaff development planning for natural resource personnel.ADMINISTRATION, MAINTENANCE, AND SITE IMPROVEMENTo Routinely meets with the Dean of Natural Resources and Public Safety.o Establishes policies and procedures for farm operations; aids in thedevelopment of long-range plans/goals for site use; offers suggestions to theDean and natural resource faculty directed at maximizing theefficiency/effectiveness of operations; assists in developing/securing fundingsources. Utilizes cost/benefit analysis methods and techniques to evaluateprograms and operations.o Assists the Dean with the development and management of the operatingbudget.o Responds to phone calls, e-mails, and other communication in a professional,timely, and courteous manner.PROMOTION AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTo Responsible for identifying new and expanding existing programmingopportunities; implements an outreach strategy designed to promote HockingCollege natural resource programs and increase revenues; maintains acontinuous program to research/pursue new business; conducts campaignsand activities for the marketing/promotion of facility use; develops pricingstrategy; conducts/analyzes market research.o Participates in department activities by working cooperatively with the naturalresource staff and faculty to accomplish the goals of the department includingbut not limited to securing and maintaining program accreditation andcertifications; share expertise and materials with other department members;work constructively to resolve individual and department concerns; activelyparticipate in department meetings; follow department policies.ACADEMIC DUTIESo Communicate college policies and procedures to ensure they are followed.o Assist the Dean to manage aspects of grant funding as needed.o Represent the program to students, prospective students and other interestedparties at recruiting events, on and off campus.o Assist the Dean to work with Career Technical Centers and traditionalsecondary schools to develop articulation agreements and CCP oversight.o Collaborate and provide programming for career/program exploration campsincluding summer camps.o Collaborate with the Dean and the marketing department to develop materialsthat promote the program (e.g., publications, web page, annual report).TEACHING AND ADVISINGo Develops, maintains and delivers relevant course material to ensure studentemployability upon program completion.o Work with students and faculty to resolve conflicts.o Drive student involvement in the advising process by maintaining sufficientadvising hours compatible with student schedules; meeting with adviseesregularly; advising students struggling with coursework; maintaining appropriateadvisee files; directing students to appropriate department and Collegeresources; maintaining confidentiality; evaluating graduation progress andcompletions.o Keep track of student progress in cross disciplines and update student records.This requires working closely with many different offices throughout the Collegesuch as Admissions, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, etc.MANAGES LEARNING LABORATORIES AND ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURESo Responsible for identifying entrepreneurial ventures that are in alignment withcurriculum and course outcomes, including but not limited to, campgroundoperations, the development of non-credit bearing courses/trainings related toland management practices, equipment operation and other related topics.o Responsible for the care/maintenance of equipment, grounds, classrooms,surrounding buildings, and other natural resource sites.o Assists with purchasing, budgeting, staff, and programming at relevant facilitiesand field operations.o Promotes and publicizes programs and opportunities to include the generalpublic.o Coordinates with faculty and staff within the college regarding use of thefacilities.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications - Education, Experience, and SkillsBachelor's degree required in Natural Resources, Land/Range Management, ConservationBiology, or closely related field required, Master's degree preferred.o Degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized bythe U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditationor equivalent as verified by a member of the National Association of CredentialEvaluation Services, Inc.Minimum of 1 year of full-time, professional experience.Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration as demonstrated byactivity in professional associations, consultative practice;
