This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a National Bridges & Structures Practice, Director, Business and Strategic Development for any mutually agreed upon WSP USA Office.

Work with Regional business leaders, project managers and other technical groups to pursue and win significant projects where bridges are a key component of the delivery.

This role will take a broad US market view but will have an initial focus on developing a larger market share in the state of California. Contributing to and supporting the National Bridges and Structures Practice Strategy, which in-turn underpins WSP's current 3-year strategic plan. Raising the profile of WSP's US Bridge team in the US Market and within WSP. Better integrating the US Bridge team with the Global Bridge team and international projects.

Project Roles

  • Serve as PM/DM and Technical Advisory or Challenge Team roles on complex bridge projects
  • Integrate a Technical Governance approach to quality management of complex and large bridge projects. Address technical risk and performance the same way we do commercial risk and performance.

Continued/expanded role as Global Bridge Lead

  • Develops and drives global strategy for providing professional services in complex or advanced technology bridge projects.
  • Brings international talent to US Bridge projects - both through WSP global staff and global partners working in the US.
  • Provides opportunities for US staff to support global WSP projects
  • Drives development of a global professional network of WSP staff
  • Participation in international professional organization's and technical committees, conferences, etc.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transit and rail experience, and infrastructure design.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Extensive, advanced proficiency with transit and rail engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of FRA, FTA, CPUC, AREMA, and other rail regulatory standards and procedures, codes, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.

CompensationExpected Salary: $130,000- $310,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $130,000 - $310,000
